The Journey

Over the last 27 years with a camera in hand (sometimes professionally), I've finally started to develop a perpsective. My photography background is in documentary-style wedding photography, wildlife, and street photography. Retro.photo is my foray into extreme macro photography combined with my deep fascination for Americana. I now have hundreds of matchbooks, and I'm just beginning to create fine art photos featuring these vintage pieces.

The Equipment

I shoot with a Nikon D850 paired with a Sigma 105mm macro lens in my home studio. This professional-grade setup allows me to capture incredibly detailed macro photographs, revealing textures and details in vintage items that often go unnoticed by the naked eye. Each photo is a combination of nearly a half-dozen combined exposures, creating a unique depth of field that brings out the character of these artifacts.
